Lecture: Catholic Women Deacons

Catholic Women Deacons: Restoring an Ancient Rite for the 21st Century
Dr. Amanda Quantz

There’s ample evidence in early Christian documents that Catholic women were ordained as deacons. They had an official role equal to that of men in the sacraments of Baptism and Eucharist.

This session will examine those early sources and explore the real possibility that Pope Francis will revive the early Church’s practice of ordaining women as deacons.
