General Description:


The Academic Resource Center (ARC) at the University of Saint Mary provides support and guidance to all students. Particular emphasis is placed on supporting students entitled to accommodations under the ADA (Americans with Disability Act) Amendments Act. In addition, the ARC closely monitors students admitted conditionally as well as those placed on academic probation.

This position works part-time, up to 20 hours a week, during the Fall/Spring 2013/2014 academic school year. Position start date is August 1, 2013.  Position will work at the Leavenworth campus.
 


Essential Functions:
 

  • Monitor and counsel students who are admitted conditionally and those students placed on academic probation.

  • Assist students with all levels of writing and research skills.

  • Proctor exams, tutor, and identify resources for students.

  • Assist with record-keeping, gathering data, and providing input for reports.

  • Additional assignments may include contacting students via phone, e-mail or letter and troubleshooting computer/printer issues.

  • Display respect, provide guidance, and assist students with their academic needs as well as maintain confidentiality and safeguard privacy (e.g., FERPA).

  • Performs additional duties as assigned.


Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:

 

  • Ability to effectively work in a close, collegial environment dedicated to assisting all students to maximize their God-given potential and preparing them to contribute to the well-being of our global society.

  • Bachelor’s degree in English, Math, Psychology or Education. 

  • Master’s degree in English, Math, Psychology or Education preferred.
