This position resides on our main campus (Leavenworth, Kansas).


JOB SUMMARY:


This position is a key member of the Student Life team and is primarily responsible for coordinating residential education and services, student housing, and campus discipline.  Ensures all Residence Life programs and services align with and support the mission and strategic plans. 
 


ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
 

 

  • Responsible for residence life operations including but not limited to, residence community development, residence hall policies and procedures.

  • Responsible for housing of students including, but not limited to housing applications, room assignments, room changes, roommate conflicts and mediations, hall check-in and check-out.  Collaborates on all housing processes and needs of the campus.

  • Effectively works with leadership to develop a long-term vision for Residence Life through research and development.

  • Assists with the facilitation of New Student Orientation.

  • Selects, trains, supervises, evaluates, and encourages developmental opportunities and growth for assigned professional and student staff members.

  • Works to create a true living/learning community within the residence halls by developing educational, moral, and social programming for the students in residence.

  • Effectively communicates with students, parents, administrators, faculty, and vendors.

  • Coordinates with administrators and maintenance staff concerning residence halls maintenance and capital improvements.

  • Adjudicates judicial cases and is closely involved in student disciplinary matters.

  • Coordinates assessment and retention efforts to ensure resident satisfaction.

  • Prepares budgets, reports, agreements as appropriate.

  • Appropriately responds to emergency situations within the housing systems timely and effectively.

  • Performs additional job related duties as assigned.

 

REQUIREMENTS:

 

  • Master’s degree in related field.

  • Minimum of two years of relevant experience in Student Life; Residence Life preferred.

  • Effective interpersonal and communication skills.

  • Proven ability to effectively manage multiple projects.

  • Works effectively, both independently and collaboratively, as a part of the team.

  • Effective organizational skills.

  • Proven ability to establish effective and collaborative relationships.

  • Proficient computer skills in MS Powerpoint, Outlook, Word and Excel.

  • Must be able to possess valid driver’s license.

  • Must be able to successfully pass required background and/or drug screenings as appropriate.
