POSITION SUMMARY:

Assist the Head Coach and the Director of Athletics in the development and management of all phases of the University of Saint Mary’s competitive cheerleading and dance program


Essential Functions:

  • Maintain a commitment and responsibility to the University of Saint Mary, the department, and to the National Association of Intercollegiate Athletics (NAIA)

  • Assist the Head Coach in the total recruiting process including evaluation, travel, correspondence, and personal contact

  • Assist the Head Coach with planning, coordinating, and scheduling practices and tactics. Must attend all practices, games, and competitions.

  • Assist with pre-season and in-season training and conditioning of student athletes

  • Work cooperatively with the staff and personnel of the Athletic Department

  • Assist the Head Coach in developing the schedule, travel, disciplinary, fundraising, and service learning programs as it relates to the competitive cheer and dance program

  • Attend all departmental meetings as necessary

  • Complete appropriate paperwork for the institution and meet required deadlines

  • Perform all other assigned duties and tasks

Requirements:

  • Bachelors Degree

  • Must meet eligibility for USM Graduate Assistantship program which includes acceptance into one of the USM graduate programs.

  • Two years minimum of competitive cheer and dance experience and/or two years of collegiate coaching experience

  • Experience in scouting, recruiting, and coaching

  • Must demonstrate exceptional organizational and communication skills

  • Must have general computer skills, preferred in all Microsoft Office programs

  • Ability to manage time well and complete various tasks independently and in partnership with professional staff.

  • Effective and positive interpersonal skills.

  • May need to work an occasional evening.

  • Must be able to successfully pass required background screening as appropriate.

  • Affinity with the overall mission of the University of Saint Mary.
