Position Summary

Manages disbursement and reconciliation of institutional, state and federal aid funds. Assists in providing student financial aid advising and analysis in accordance with institutional, state and federal aid programs.

Essential Functions:

  • Process disbursements and adjustments for institutional, state and federal aid (scholarships, grants and loans) and resolve disbursement errors.

  • Reconcile aid payments with disbursements to ensure accuracy.

  • Reviews and processes financial aid applications.

  • Generates financial aid packages.

  • Manages data, reports, documents and file management utilizing the University systems (Jenzabar EX, PowerFAIDS, EdConnect, COD, NSLDS, Filebound etc).

  • Maintains appropriate confidentiality as required and necessary (e.g., FERPA, FAFSA).

  • Other duties related to assisting students and parents with financial aid questions and providing front desk coverage.

  • May be asked to attend off campus training.

Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s Degree

  • Must meet eligibility for USM Graduate Assistantship program which includes acceptance into one of the USM graduate programs

  • Proven ability to work effectively, efficiently in a fast-paced environment.

  • Ability to meet critical deadlines.

  • Effective interpersonal and communication skills using tact and patience in a diverse environment.

  • Detail oriented.

  • Proficient in MS Office (e.g., Word, Excel, Powerpoint).

  • Works 4-5 Saturdays per year to assist with Move In and Registration days.

  • Works 4-5 evenings per year to assist with various events on/off campus (such as Overland Park’s orientation night or a FAFSA night at a local high school).
