Position Summary:

Provide support to the Department of Natural Sciences and Mathematics faculty while participating in the Graduate Assistantship program at USM.

Essential Functions:

  • Assist PI with STEM grant administrative duties including collection of assessment data and report writing.

  • Assisting faculty with data collection for external organizations.

  • Assisting faculty with Departmental events including STEM grant events, annual High School Event, annual Science and Mathematics Undergraduate Research Forum.

  • Assisting lab coordinator with the ordering of lab supplies, lab set up and clean up.

  • Assisting lab coordinator with the maintenance of labs, i.e. checking safety equipment weekly and maintaining chemical and equipment inventories.

  • Perform additional job related duties as assigned.


  • Bachelor’s degree.

  • Must meet eligibility for USM Graduate Assistantship program which includes acceptance into one of the USM graduate programs.

  • Must be proficient in Microsoft Word, Excel and Powerpoint.

  • Must be self-starter – able to work with minimal direction / supervision and should possess and demonstrate initiative.

  • Must possess and demonstrate attention to detail.

  • Must possess and demonstrate strong work ethic.

  • Must be able to successfully pass required background screening as appropriate.

  • Affinity with the overall mission of the University of Saint Mary.
