The Graduate Assistant (GA) Theology/English assists the departments with research and program development in a variety of ways.
Will work approximately 20 hours weekly.
There will be flexibility in hours due to the nature of the tasks.
Will give progress reports to the departments and keep accurate record of expenses and contacts made.
Graduate Assistant will assist the Departments in the following areas:
1. Assist in Faculty Research both for course projects and in professional scholarship. GA will need basic skills in computer programs and research/editing skills.
2. Teach/Train and Coordinate students (both pastoral ministry students and others from campus ministry) as a Confirmation Retreat Team. This team will offer Confirmation retreats to junior high and high school students in the area. Team usually offers four or five day long retreats each year. GA needs a good grounding in Catholic teaching and skills for organization and working well with other people.
3. Assist in the workshops, lectures, presentations sponsored by both the departments, by doing mailings, communication, behind the scenes work.
4. Assist the faculty of the departments with their many responsibilities in the classroom, committees and other duties as they arise. Need to be technology savvy.
The applicant must be admitted to the University of Saint Mary and accepted into a graduate program with an approved plan of study.
Remuneration includes tuition remission for students wishing to obtain a Master’s Degree in Education, Psychology, or Business Administration.
The term of the position is 2013-2015 and may begin in summer or fall 2013. The review of applications will begin immediately and will continue until the position is filled.
