Location:  Leavenworth, KS Campus


POSITION SUMMARY:


Serve as an assistant to the athletic training staff for fall, winter, spring, and off-season events for men’s and women’s athletics. Will work under the direction of the athletic training staff helping to perform the duties involved with prevention, care, and rehabilitation of athletic injuries.

 


ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:


Fall sports: football, men’s soccer, women’s soccer, volleyball, cross country, cheerleading, and dance.

  • Primary fall sports: Football- Assistant and Cross Country- Attendance at all practices and home meets.

  • Assist with Cross Country and Cheerleading practices.

  • Assist with Football games on Saturdays home and away.

  • Attend office hours for evaluations, treatments, and rehabilitation appointments.

Winter sports: baseball, softball, track and field, cheerleading, spring football, men’s and women’s lacrosse, off-season sports

  • Primary Focus: Wrestling.

  • Assist with Men’s and Women’s JV Basketball: Attendance at practices and home events.

  • Travel to conference JV basketball games as needed.

  • Attend office hours for evaluations, treatments, and rehabilitation appointments.

Spring sports: baseball, softball, track and field, cheerleading, spring football, men’s and women’s lacrosse, off-season sports

  • Primary Spring Sports: Competition Cheer and Track and Field: Attend all practices, meets, and competitions.

  • Assist with Spring Football practices.

  • Attend office hours for evaluations, treatments, and rehabilitation appointments.

Athletic training room duties will include but are not limited to
  • Daily cleaning & maintenance of the McGilley and Ryan athletic training rooms.

  • Towel laundering for both McGilley and Ryan athletic training rooms as needed.

  • Stocking and inventory of supplies in McGilley and Ryan athletic training rooms.

  • Medical paperwork filing

  • Assisting with insurance paperwork/claims

  • Making doctor appointments for athletes


REQUIRED CERTIFICATIONS:


  • CPR/AED for the Professional Rescuer.

  • Graduate of a CAATE approved athletic training program. BOC certified ATC.

  • Licensed or license eligible in the state of Kansas.


ADMISSION TO GRADUATE STUDY:



  • Must be accepted to University of Saint Mary graduate school. See catalog or college web page for full admission requirements. Masters of Arts in Education is suggested but any area is available. Will enroll at University of Saint Mary in no more than nine or less than six hours per semester of graduate level course work.

  • Graduate assistants must maintain satisfactory academic progress toward a master’s degree and must comply with all academic requirements and policies applicable to graduate students in the degree program in which enrolled.

  • Graduate assistants, as representatives of the college, will conduct themselves in a manner consistent with responsible adult behavior and the mission of University of Saint Mary. Graduate assistants must accept their responsibility as role models, mentors and coaches.

  • Graduate assistants will receive tuition reduction (remission) for their services.

  • Graduate assistants may receive room and board on the college premises, subject to availability.
