Instructor of Health Information Management & Computer Information Systems

The University of Saint Mary, a Catholic liberal arts university in Leavenworth, Kansas, invites applications for the position of Instructor of Health Information & Computer Information Systems. USM has experienced significant enrollment growth over the past few years, including the health information & computer information programs, which offers Bachelor of Science in Health Information Management, Health Informatics and Computer Information Science degrees.


Job Summary:

Primary responsibilities include teaching and developing courses in health information management. Secondary teaching assignments may be made in Computer Information Systems, as well. Faculty are expected to participate in university governance through committee work at the university and departmental level. Faculty may also assist in administrative responsibilities, online teaching, scholarly contributions, student recruitment, advising and other activities that contribute to the department’s mission and success.

Position reports to the Health Information Management & Computer Information Department Chair.


Required Qualifications:

  • Master’s degree in Informatics, HIM, Business Administration, Public Administration, and/or Health Administration and any AHIMA credential. At least two years of relevant experience in HIM, information systems, data analytics, research, informatics, or related field.

  • Must have excellent oral and written communication skills; an ability to initiate and exercise independent judgment and decision making skills; work comfortably with a wide variety of individuals. Must have demonstrated ability to use modern office equipment, practices, procedures and etiquette; expertise using Microsoft Office Suite and related computer software. Must be able to handle multiple concurrent projects and maintain accurate documentation. Excellent customer service skills and professional demeanor are also required.


Contract

The position is for one year at the Instructor level and will be available in August 2017. The position may be renewable.
