Position Overview:


This is a grant-funded position designed to support instructional coaches and teachers in the Leavenworth School District to implement the goals of the PRISM MSP grant. The head instructional coach will support district administrators and teachers through coordination of observations, providing instructional feedback, resources and job imbedded professional development.
Head instructional coach will also provide administrative support and assist with writing reports as needed.
 

Essential Functions:


  • Provides on-going, job-embedded professional development at a variety of levels: individual, grade level, school-wide, and district-wide and with university faculty.

  • Assist in the planning and implementation of the summer institute and follow up meetings during school year.

  • Observe individuals participating in the grant and providing constructive, meaningful feedback on implementation of instructional strategies learned at the summer institute.

  • Provide support to teachers in the implementation of instructional strategies through planning, modeling, co-teaching, peer evaluation, peer professional development and  delivery, training and reflection.

  • Provide support to teachers in implementing Kansas College and Career Ready Standards.

  • Assist in the collection, analysis, and presentation of student assessment data.

  • Serve as a resource for the development and implementation of instruction based on Kansas College and Career Ready Standards.

  • Provide additional resources to teachers and administration team.

  • Develop, coordinate, deliver and participate in professional development and specific trainings designed to enhance knowledge and skills of teachers in the areas of math and science instruction.

  • Facilitates cooperation between participants in the grant.

  • Supports use of appropriate communications skills.

  • Supports development of thinking skills.

  • Follows all district, school, and university policies, handbooks, and regulations.

  • Participates in professional activities to enhance knowledge and skills.

  • Uses written and spoken language well.

  • Maintains positive contact with supervisor and peers.

  • Handles work in a timely and effective manner.

  • Performs other duties as assigned by the supervisor and grant coordinator.

 

Qualifications:


 

  • Master’s degree in Education.

  • Minimum of three years successful experience in teaching grades 3-8.

  • Experience in teaching math and science topics.

  • Experience with providing instructional coaching, support, and feedback to peers through observation.

  • Experience in providing job imbedded professional development to colleagues.

  • Experience as an instructional coach and/or administrator providing coaching to teachers preferred.

  • Proficiency in use of district adopted technology preferred.

  • Experience with Kansas College and Career Ready Standards and Assessment preferred.

  • Ability to work cooperatively and collaboratively with teachers, instructional coaches, university personnel and administrators preferred.

  • Must successfully clear required background screen as appropriate.

  • Affinity with the overall mission of the University of Saint Mary.
