(Leavenworth, Kan.)—Ten University of Saint Mary student-athletes from the Spires Football Team were named all-conference by the Kansas Collegiate Athletic Conference (KCAC) for their efforts on the field during the regular season.
The award-winning Spires are:
Jerrell Young, a senior receiver from Portland, Ore., who was named a First Team All-Conference selection.
Alex Gomes, a junior receiver from Cameron Park, Calif.; Kaulen Pevan, a senior offensive lineman from Wasilla, Alaska; Bernard Bolden, a junior defensive back from Merced, Calif.; and Dwain Taylor, a freshman linebacker from Houston—all named as Second Team All-Conference selections.
Ukpono Udi, a senior defensive back from Riverside, Calif.; Kenny Nez, a freshman defensive back from Reno, Nev.; Alan Gudka, a junior offensive lineman from Keenesburg, Colo.; Will Ryan, a junior running back from Pleasant Ridge, Kan.; and Ronnie Cooper, a senior wide receiver from Plano, Texas were all named KCAC Honorable Mention. Gomes and Bolden also made the Honorable Mention roster as a utility player and kick returner, respectively.
"I am very proud of each one of these individuals,” said USM Head Football Coach Lance Hinson. “They are very deserving of the recognition they received from our conference. The seniors who were honored—Kaulen, Jerrell, Ronnie, and Udi—will be hard to replace. But there are several younger guys that received recognition that we’ll count on for their leadership in the future.”
