Nationally known expert on chants offers concert at University of Saint Mary

(Leavenworth, Kan.)—Margaret Waddell, nationally known expert and performer of the chants of Hildegard of Bingen will be in residence at the University of Saint Mary Sunday, Nov. 12, through Tuesday, Nov. 14, and will offer a public concert on Nov. 12.

The concert is at 7 p.m. in Annunciation Chapel on the USM main campus in Leavenworth, 4100 S. 4th Street.

Waddell's residency is sponsored and funded by USM's Sister Mary Janet McGilley Faculty Chair in Liberal Studies. As part of her residency, Waddell will also be offering lectures for Saint Mary students.

Waddell, a 1985 Saint Mary grad, performs the mystical chant of Saint Hildegard von Bingen (1098-1179) throughout the U.S. She is a member of the International Society of Hildegard von Bingen Studies (ISHBS) which sponsors conferences on Hildegard's life and works, connecting those who are researching various aspects of Hildegard's diverse accomplishments.

Waddell also facilitates Healing Sound workshops, leads Community Chanting for Peace events, provides live chanting for labyrinth-walking events, Restorative Yoga and Yoga Nidra workshops and more. She offers Therapeutic Voice sessions and private healing sound sessions for adults.

By day, Margaret works as an Early Childhood Music Development Specialist in her hometown of Columbia, Mo., teaching classes for the birth through 9 population, and beyond.
