USM Art Program Presents Faculty, Art Majors Shows

Opening Reception 3-5 p.m. Feb. 7 | Goppert Gallery | Exhibits Open Through March 7 

(Leavenworth, Kan.)—The University of Saint Mary will present a pair of concurrent art exhibitions Feb. 7 through March 7 featuring the work of the art program’s faculty and a themed, collaborative project produced by the university’s art majors. The exhibits open with a reception at 3 p.m. Friday, Feb. 7, in Goppert Gallery on the USM main campus in Leavenworth at 4100 South 4th Street.

The reception is free and open to the public. The exhibits will be on display in Goppert Gallery weekdays from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m.

“The works in this show all explore the concept of environmental engagement and encourage appreciation of the function and beauty that can be found in the commonplace,” said Assistant Professor Shelby Prindaville, the university’s art program director.

Local area students whose work will be on display during the exhibit include Melanie Arroyo, of Overland Park, Kan., Anthony Clouse, of Leavenworth, Kan., Christina Hankinson, of Kansas City, Kan., Zachary Kolenda, of Kansas City, Kan., Kelcey Lewis, of Lansing, Kan., Caitlin Lewis, of Lansing, Kan., Olivia Silvey, of Kansas City, Kan., Margaret Simanowitz, of Tonganoxie, Kan., and Leandra Whitson, of Lawrence, Kan.

Work by Prindaville and USM Associate Professor of Art Susan Nelson will be on display in the faculty show.
