(Leavenworth, Kan.)—The University of Saint Mary is expanding its well-regarded MBA program this fall with the addition of a new concentration in Enterprise Risk Management (ERM)—an important area of study as companies around the globe are increasingly looking to effectively and strategically manage risk.

Prospective students can learn about the Saint Mary and the new concentration, as well as all of USM’s degree-completion and graduate programs—including the MBA, education, and psychology offerings—at a free info session at 6 p.m. Tuesday, July 17. The session will be held at USM’s Overland Park Campus at 11413 Pflumm Road. Learn more or RSVP at

USM’s new enterprise risk management concentration is currently being offered exclusively online. It joins the university’s existing MBA concentrations—finance, general management, health care management, human resource management, and marketing and advertising management—which are offered in face-to-face classes at the Overland Park Campus, online, or in a flexible combination. The MBA is offered in accelerated eight-week sessions. Classes are held one night a week. The program can be completed in as little as 18 months.

Dr. Ron Logan, head of USM’s business programs, notes that corporations today are moving risk management away from a “silo” approach in favor of a more strategic, cross-organization perspective. ERM is an approach that seeks to manage risk across an organization in a holistic and strategic manner that views risk as a source of competitive advantage.

“The target audience is for those that are new to the subject of risk management,” he said. “What this new concentration will do is give people a better understanding of the risk arena and how modern organizations deal with risk across their company.”

Programs at the Overland Park Campus are designed with busy working professionals in mind, and offer flexible schedules and multiple start dates each year. Attendees at the July 17 session will be able to speak with the program director and university counselors about the admissions process and financial aid options, and enjoy refreshments.
