USM Holds Founders’ Day Concert Celebrating Sisters of Charity

(Leavenworth, Kan.)—The University of Saint Mary department of fine arts-music will hold its Founders’ Day Concert, an annual tradition commemorating the 1858 landing of the Sisters of Charity in Leavenworth, at 7 p.m. Sunday, Nov. 10, in Annunciation Chapel on USM’s Leavenworth campus, 4100 South 4th Street. The Sisters of Charity of Leavenworth are the founders and continuing sponsors of the University of Saint Mary.

The Founders’ Day Concert is free and open to the public.

This year’s edition of the concert will also feature the USM Concert Chorale, which will sing selections by Rutter, Mozart, and Beethoven.

The program will also include the USM String Ensemble as well as faculty and soloists including Freda Proctor, USM assistant professor of music, on the organ, Jillian Warman on violin, Jordan Buchner on flute, as well as soprano Sarah DaMetz and mezzo-soprano Sara Cronkleton-Kidd.
