Freshman Guard Grant Greenberg of Leavenworth Honored by Conference

(Leavenworth, Kan.)—The Kansas Collegiate Athletic Conference (KCAC) has named University of Saint Mary Men’s Basketball player Grant Greenberg, of Leavenworth, Kan., as KCAC Player of the Week for the second consecutive week.

Greenberg, a 6’2” freshman guard, was honored for his performance in USM’s home opener win against Avila University on Nov. 12. Greenberg filled up the stat sheet in the 86-75 victory, with 36 points, seven rebounds, three assists, and one steal. He hit on 10 of 15 shots and went 15 for 17 from the free throw line.

On the season, Greenberg is shooting 56.6 percent from the field, 90.6 percent from the free throw line, and is averaging 30.25 points per game, with 4.75 rebounds and 1.75 steals per game.

USM Head Men’s Basketball Coach Jon Bishop praised Greenberg’s efforts on the young season.

"Grant had another great week, even though we only played one game,” Coach Bishop said. “His 36 points were key for us in getting the win over Avila.

"It's amazing how well he has started the season. But seeing the hard work he puts in every single day I'm not all that surprised. He's such a complete player and his abilities to be productive in all aspects of the game have really helped our team.”

The USM Men’s Basketball Team is currently 3-1 on the season, with KCAC play not getting underway until next month. The Spires next go on the road to take on Benedictine at 7 p.m. Tuesday, Nov. 19.

Saint Mary has 12 varsity sports programs—football, volleyball, baseball, softball, men's and women's basketball, men's and women's soccer, cross country, and track & field—along with co-ed cheerleading and dance. Visit to learn more about USM athletics.
