USM Music Ensembles Present an Evening of Chamber Music

(Leavenworth, Kan.)—The University of Saint Mary instrumental ensembles will entertain music lovers with An Evening of Chamber Music at 7:30 p.m. Tuesday, April 8, in Annunciation Chapel on USM’s Leavenworth Campus, 4100 South 4th Street.
The concert is free and open to the public.
Several ensembles of student and community musicians, under the direction of Freda Proctor, USM assistant professor of music, will perform at the event.
The string ensemble will play Air from the Orchestral Suite #3 by Bach, and Allegro from Eine Kleine Nachtmusik by Mozart. Violin soloist Jillian Warman, double bassist Wallace Proctor, and organist Freda Proctor, will perform Albinoni’s Adagio.
The brass ensemble will play Rigaudon by Campra, as well as O Bone Jesu by Palestrina. A trombone quartet will present the Pilgrims Chorus from Tannhauser by Wagner.
Warren Sickel will direct the percussion in a performance of his composition, Aspire to Percussion.

Woodwind ensembles will include a clarinet double trio playing The Ash Grove, a saxophone trio playing Faber’s Overture from Partita in F, and a flute quintet performing Mendelssohn’s Saltarello from Symphony No. 4. A full flute choir will perform Greensleeves Fantasia arranged by McGinty.
