(Leavenworth, Kan.)—The University of Saint Mary theatre program presents Winters’ Tales, a rollicking tour of late comedian Jonathan Winters’ expansive imagination, at 7:30 p.m. Thursday, Oct. 10, through Saturday, Oct. 12, in Xavier Theatre on the USM main campus in Leavenworth at 4100 South 4th Street. Tickets are $10 for adults, and can be purchased in advance by calling 913-758-6152. Winters’ Tales features adult themes and is not recommended for children.

Winters’ Tales revolves around Winters’ book of short stories and was edited for the stage by Van Ibsen, director of USM’s theatre program.

“Winters was one of the most influential comic voices of my generation,” Ibsen said. “I thought it would be appropriate to adapt these short stories into a theatrical presentation as a tribute to him.”

Ibsen added that the production presented several great learning opportunities for USM theatre students.

“The style of this show lends itself to a contemporary approach to acting and allows our students to create an abundance of characters in a short amount of time using a variety of acting techniques,” Ibsen said. “This style is uniquely honest, very contemporary, and seeks to break all barriers between the audience and the actors.”

The cast of the play includes Saint Mary students Anthony Clouse, of Leavenworth, Kan., Sarah Cronkleton-Kidd, of Gladstone, Mo., Sarah DaMetz, of Lansing, Kan., Jason Eberth, of Leavenworth, Kan., Amanda Jacobs, of Leavenworth, Kan., Joshua Lockwood, of Easton, Kan., Gemma Maliszewski, of Wichita, Kan., Alyssa Papageorgiou, of Kansas City, Kan., Regina Ridgway, of Spring Hill, Kan., and Ben Sanders, of Wichita, Kan.
