Conference Honors 2 USM Student-Athletes

(Leavenworth, Kan.)—Two University of Saint Mary student-athletes from the Spires Volleyball Team were named all-conference by the Kansas Collegiate Athletic Conference (KCAC) for their play during the recently-concluded regular season.

The honorees are defensive specialist Allie Massanet, a freshman from Manhattan, Kan., and setter Danielle Dowdy, a sophomore from DeSoto, Kan. Both were named All-Conference Honorable Mention.

USM Head Volleyball Coach Sarah Johnson was impressed by the performances of her award-winning players this season.

“Danielle Dowdy is so deserving of this honor,” Coach Johnson said. “She has worked hard to improve her skills and volleyball IQ and she had a great season because of it. She is the type of player everyone wants to coach and a leader for us in every way.

“Allie stepped into an important role as our libero and was a stand-out in the conference, finishing third in digs per set. She is a natural athlete and competitor, and to come in as a true freshman and perform made a difference in our defensive system.”

Saint Mary has 12 varsity sports programs—football, volleyball, baseball, softball, men's and women's basketball, men's and women's soccer, cross country, and track & field—along with co-ed cheerleading and dance. Visit to learn more about USM athletics.
