Dr. Patti Carnahan

Associate Professor in undergraduate and graduate programs

In 1998, Patti Carnahan, Ed.D, joined the faculty at the University of Saint Mary education department. She has experience teaching elementary and special education, but she goes above and beyond the average professor. A light-hearted professor by nature, she strives to make classes interactive instead of lecture-style. In one of Carnahan’s classes, teacher candidates finished a spoof on Dr. Suess, entitled “Pink Pickles and Bananas,” making their own props and videotaping the production.

In another class, Carnahan’s students finished a unit on geography by creating a relief map using home-made play dough to represent 30 different landforms. Her goal is to make learning fun and meaningful while modeling strategies and teaching techniques that can be used in the K-12 classroom.
