Roger Bonner, assistant professor in criminology, received his Bachelor’s Degree in Criminal Justice from Colorado Technical University, his Master's Degree in Human Services and Ph.D. in Public Safety Leadership from Capella University.
Bonner joined the faculty at USM after spending 28 years with the Kansas Department of Corrections, where he was the Deputy Director of the Enforcement, Apprehensions, and Investigations Division.
He is on the executive board of the National Major Gang Task Force and the advisory board of the Kansas Gang Investigators Association.
He is also a member of Alphi Phi Sigma, the national criminal justice honor society.
In each of his classes, Bonner fully believes in student engagement. Students are encouraged to engage in the learning process as much as possible with the instructor. Open discussion and debate are an integral part of the criminology program, and each of Bonner’s classes emphasizes the importance of intellectual, thought-provoking ideas.
