Van Ibsen is director of the theatre program and an assistant professor of theatre at the University of Saint Mary, serving USM for more than 32 years. Ibsen earned his Bachelor’s degree in speech theatre from Kearney State College, Neb., and his Master’s degree in theatre from Purdue University.

Ibsen has more than 500 credits in directing and design for theatres from Salt Lake City to New York City. He has been instrumental in start-up theatres in Salt Lake City, Utah, La Porte, Ind., and Gladstone, Mo. He has extensive training in acting, directing, musical theatre, voice, mime and juggling.

As founder of Gladstone Theatre in the Park, Gladstone, Mo., he directs, designs, constructs and paints their two-show summer season of musicals while also directing children’s summer musical theatre camps.
