  • MGT 785 — Forensic Accounting
    Learn how to investigate accounting crimes, litigation support, gathering evidence, financial statement analysis, fraud investigations, business valuations, and the assessment of economic damages.
  • MGT 786 — International Accounting
    Learn preparation and financial information reporting for the major nations of the world and skills in foreign currency transactions, taxation, and the international transfer pricing procedures utilized by multinational corporations.
  • MGT 789 — Data Analysis for Decision Making - Finance and Accounting
    Use accounting and finance-based data analytics to enhance data security, prevent cyber-attacks, and provide guidance for optimal decision-making.

Triple Advantage Accountancy Program

In addition to the above Accounting Concentration courses, and completion of Managerial Economics, Managerial Accounting, and Managerial Finance, you may take the following courses and qualify to sit for the CPA (Certified Public Accountant) Examination — providing you have accumulated 150 total semester hours of college (undergraduate or graduate) coursework. Thirty of these hours must be in Accounting Theory and Practice and 11 must be in Communications.

    Learn how data can be used to make profitable business decisions and gain a strategic advantage. Discuss the benefits, challenges, and misuse of analytics in organizations and society.

    Learn how to mine data and use tools such as regression and spreadsheet modeling to analyze results and make business decisions.

    Apply sampling and resampling methods, model selection, multiple regression, social network analysis, and other analytical approaches to develop forecasts and make business decisions.

A general management concentration or certificate is the most flexible of all options—for aspiring managers who are the organizational leaders of the future.  With its primary focus on project management and leadership, this concentration has turned USM students into successful entrepreneurs, experts, and leaders.

    Learn how to incorporate the latest information technologies into management practices.

Dr. Mark Harvey is an Associate Professor and Director of the MBA program at the University of Saint Mary. He has authored books and articles on the influence of celebrities and the entertainment industry on politics, human rights, economic development, and democratization, virtual learning teams, and using games and simulations in the classroom. He teaches courses in global management, managerial and international political economics, law and ethics, leadership, and organizational management. Dr. Harvey has taught for USM since 2012, with previous experience teaching at the University of Birmingham, London School of Economics, the University of Wales, Duke University, and others. Nick DeGennaro’s professional experience includes more than 40 years of senior management positions with Fortune 500 health care companies, responsible for the management of large sales teams and organizations across the United States. Mr. DeGennaro currently is senior vice president of the Medical Integration Division at Vivos Therapeutics – a publically traded company on the NASDAQ.

Mr. DeGennaro was president/owner of PH3 Healthcare management which owned and operated 10 imaging centers across the country. Mr. DeGennaro has also held senior-level positions at Nueterra Healthcare, Cerescan, and Liberty Hospital.

Mr. DeGennaro holds a Bachelor of Science degree in Marketing from Colorado State University and an MBA from the University of Saint Mary. Nick also sits on the health care advisory board at the University of Saint Mary and serves as an adjunct professor teaching health care leadership, organizational management, small business, and entrepreneurial management along with operations and international business.

Janet Graham, MBA, is a seasoned instructor specializing in global business, international marketing, and cross-cultural communication. Her international experience includes living and working in Europe, and three countries in Asia, for over 14 years. While in Asia, Professor Graham worked for a large multinational shipping company in Hong Kong and Singapore, where she managed an IT project team across five countries. Later, she co-founded an international commodities agency in Indonesia. She is proficient in two languages: French and Bahasa Indonesia. Professor Graham continues to travel overseas regularly and enjoys teaching online classes, so that she can share her international work with students in real-time.

Professor May Yu-Harper is a marketing instructor at USM and serves as the coordinator for Spiro's Cup, the vibrant on-campus student-run coffee shop. With a wealth of experience as a former restaurant owner and manager for the US Department of Justice National De-Escalation Training Program, she brings extensive business acumen to her role.

At USM, Professor May Yu-Harper imparts knowledge in a range of courses, including Website Design, Digital Marketing, Business Learning Club, Business Communication, Consumer Behavior, Principles of Advertising, Marketing Internship, and Strategic Marketing.

Professor May Yu-Harper holds a law degree from China and earned her MBA at Fort Hays State University and currently pursuing a doctoral degree at the University of Kansas.

Donald Lennard Donald Lennard

Donald Lennard is a senior consultant at DeMarche. He serves as the chairperson of the DeMarche Manager Review Committee (MARC) for Alternatives, which previews, monitors, evaluates, and sustains ongoing due diligence for strategies in alternative asset classes. He is also a member of the DeMarche Manager Review Committee (MARC) and the DeMarche Asset Allocation Committee. 

Prior to rejoining DeMarche in 2012, Don served as a Senior Investment Officer for Private Markets for the Kansas Public Employees Retirement System (KPERS) where he was responsible for a portfolio exceeding $2 billion in assets. The private capital investments he oversaw and implemented during his tenure contributed to performance that resulted in the American Investment Council recognizing the KPERS portfolio as one of the top 10 pension funds, with the highest private equity returns as of 2019. Mr. Lennard first joined DeMarche in 2000 as the director of DeMarche’s manager research staff. Prior to that, he served in several positions in corporate finance at Sprint, including a director position at Sprint’s Brazilian subsidiary Intelij. He is also an adjunct professor at the University of Saint Mary, teaching graduate-level courses in finance and operations management and has been doing so since 2010.

Don earned his MBA with a concentration in finance from Avila University and his Bachelor of Science in Business Administration from Truman State University. He holds a FINRA Series 65 Securities license. Don's hobbies include chess, collecting and restoring vintage timepieces and cars. He is married and has four children.

Bruce McFarland taught in the University of Saint Mary MBA program since 2008 – with courses ranging from Leadership in Health Care Management to Financial Decisions. He is the safety and emergency preparedness coordinator at Saint Luke’s Hospital. He has also served in leadership positions at a number of health care facilities, including Children’s Mercy Hospital, Providence Medical Center, United States Air Force (USAF) Clinic at Barksdale Air Force Base, USAF Community Hospital at Scott Air Force Base, USAF Wilford Hall Medical Center at Lackland Air Force Base, and USAF Base Hospital at McConnell Air Force Base.

He holds a Bachelor of Science from Culver-Stockton College, Master of Arts in Business Administration from Central Michigan University, and Masters of Business Administration from the University of Saint Mary.

He also served as a vice president for a private, Miami-based, $150 million financial services organization and for more than 14 years was a regional consultant and manager for a publicly held corporation. 

He earned a Bachelor of Arts degree in Economics from Brooklyn College, Master of Business Administration in Corporate Finance from Pace University’s graduate school of business, and attended the College for Financial Planning, completing the CFP® Professional Education Program. He retired from the General Electric Company as a Division Financial Director and his interests currently include financial models for entrepreneurial businesses, business analytics, governance/business ethics, personal finance/wealth planning, and specialized securities investment trading. His published non-fiction books include “Globalization and Diversity,” “The World is at Your Door,” and “The Rise of Powerful, Influential, and Caring Women.” His fiction work “One Step from Heaven & Two from Hell,” is currently in progress. Professor Brian Webb has nearly 25 years of experience in financial regulatory experience and several years’ experience as an instructor of business finance. He obtained a Bachelor’s and Master’s in Business Administration and was awarded the Charter Financial Analyst (CFA) and Financial Risk Manager (FRM) designations from the CFA Institute and the Global Association of Risk Professionals, respectively.
