Freda Proctor is Assistant Professor of Music and Director of Instrumental Musical Studies at the University of Saint Mary. Proctor, a master pianist, organist, and flutist has taught at USM for more than 20 years.
Proctor received the Bachelor of Music in Piano and Flute from Wichita State University and the Master of Arts in Piano and Class Piano Pedagogy from Eastern Illinois University. Before coming to USM Proctor taught piano at Eastern Illinois and the College of DuPage and flute at Wheaton College . She played at Carnegie Hall and has served as accompanist for numerous professional performers and as pianist for the Topeka, Kan., Symphony. She especially enjoys accompanying chamber music ensembles. Proctor is active as a performer, teacher, adjudicator and church organist-choirmaster. At USM she teaches the music theory curriculum and directs the Community Band, chamber music ensembles, and the Bells of Saint Mary Handbell Choir.
