Pre-Requisites for the Accelerated BSN Track
Is the BSN Track right for you?
» If you're passionate about nursing and willing to dedicate a year of your time to your education, the accelerated track can be a highly-rewarding path.
» Candidates should be highly motivated, as you'll basically be finishing two years of schooling in just 12 months.
» To be considered, you MUST have a BS or BA degree in another field from an accredited college or university.
» Candidates are also expected to have a minimum GPA of 3.0 on all prior academic work.
Pre-Requisite and General Education requirements:

Chemistry with lab, must include biochemistry; prefer survey course – inorganic, organic, and biochemistry (4 credits; must have been taken within the last five years)

Human Anatomy and Physiology with lab, must include all body systems (5-6 credits; must have been taken within the last five years)

Microbiology, lab not required (3-4 credits; have been taken within the last five years)

A science course within the last five years that includes genetics/genomics or Biology for Today (USM) (3 credits)

Communications (3 credits)

Introduction to Sociology or Introduction to Psychology (3 credits)

Gerontology course or Aging: Issues and Perspectives (USM) (3 credits)

One of the following courses:Human Growth & Development, Abnormal Psychology, Health Psychology, Social Psychology, Psychology of Childhood & Adolescence or Developmental Psychology (3 credits)

College Algebra or Introductory Statistics (3 credits)

Mission in Health Care, a USM course that you'll study as part of the Accelerated BSN track. The costs for the Mission in Health Care course are included in the BSN-AT tuition.
