Returning student information
Welcome back to USM!
There is plenty going on at the University of Saint Mary! When you return, you may notice some subtle changes from the last time you were here.
This summer, Vice President of Student Life Dr. Wendi Santee took over the department. Dr. Santee, along with other departments and organizations on campus, has prepped for opening of the brand new student union, which is expected to open soon. This space will include a fitness area, snack and refreshment area, plenty of comfortable lounge space to relax and hang out with friends, TVs, pool tables, ping pong tables, and more.
There will also be new student space in and just outside of the Student life office. All of this is being created with you in mind. Before you arriver, there is some important information for you to be aware of as you prepare to return to campus.

Please make sure to bring your Sunday best clothes for this event. Also on Wednesday evening, we will be hosting a Welcome Back Bash for all students, new and returning, as well as faculty, staff, and administration and enjoy a great meal together. It will be a wonderful time for all the USM community to gather and get the academic year started!
Additional Important Information:
Health Insurance: All athletes, residential students and international students are required to have primary health insurance. If you are not currently covered by health insurance, please contact the Student Life Office (studentlife@stmary.edu). Athletes will also be required to purchase the University’s athletic insurance. Residential students will be enrolled in the Accident Policy carried by USM, unless proof of other insurance is provided. This Accident Policy only covers accidents that happen on campus and is not a substitute for health insurance. As a returning student, please make sure the university has your updated health insurance information. You may contact the Student Life Office at 913-758-6120.
