General Information
The Ancilla Center is licensed by the State of Kansas and is open to all persons regardless of race, color, national origin, gender, or religion, in the Leavenworth Community. Our license is granted for a total enrollment of 88 children ages 2 1/2 to age 12.
We require that the children are toilet trained for sanitary reasons. An occasional “accident” will be tolerated. If the “accidents” continue, a meeting with the parents will be requested. If there is no change over a period of time, you will be asked to withdraw your child from the center.
Our center is a non-profit organization funded by tuition paid by parents. Kan-Work and SRS programs are accepted. Fundraisers are held as needed as well as grants when available.
As a service to the families of our center we have a professional photographer come to our center around October/November to photograph all students and siblings if desired. The photos are ready to purchase in time for Christmas. Class pictures will be taken in the spring.
We provide a safe and happy environment for your child where they can expect to be loved and respected. The same is expected from each of the children toward the teachers and other children.

Ancilla Center for Children
The Ancilla Center opened Sept. 2, 1980, and was dedicated to the memory of Mother Mary Ancilla Spoor; a Sister of Charity of Leavenworth, and friend and guide to families and children. We strive to continue in this spirit. We seek to develop the total child in the following ways:
Spiritual
By sharing Bible stories, songs, and prayers, we hope to give your child the knowledge that they are special because of God's love.
Physical
We have a weekly exercise program, walks around the campus, as well as play on the playground or gym to help develop gross motor skills. Fine motor skills are developed through activities such as coloring, cutting; painting and working with play dough or manipulatives in the classroom.
Emotional
Social skills and self-confidence are developed through individual and group interaction, participation in holiday parties, field trips as well as other special events.
Cognitive
Verbalization skills are developed through the use of songs, finger plays, stories and role-play. Working with the alphabet, numbers, colors, music, art and crafts, help prepare the child to enter kindergarten. All activities are provided in a safe, secure and nurturing environment.
Mission Statement
The Ancilla Center for Children exists to offer a safe and caring place for children to play and learn. We adhere to the state licensing rules and are under the rules of the University of Saint Mary .
