  Pre-Physical Therapy
Admission to a graduate program offering either the Master in Physical Therapy or Doctor of Physical Therapy degree requires that the student has completed three years of undergraduate work or has earned a baccalaureate degree from an accredited institution.

Generally programs require the following courses:
  • one year of English (including composition)
  • one year of introductory level biology with laboratory for majors (Diversity of Plants and Animals and Cell Biology)
  • one year of anatomy and physiology (Human Anatomy and Physiology I and II)
  • one year of chemistry (General Chemistry I and II)
  • mathematics to support understanding of science course content
  • computer literacy
  • speech
  • courses in the social/behavioral sciences.

Students wishing to apply to a physical therapy program should contact the school they plan to attend for specific requirements. Pre-physical therapy students should contact the Pre-Health Professional/Pre-Medicine Adviser at the University of Saint Mary early in the first semester of freshman year for consultation regarding course selection.

USM Biology courses are taught 100% by knowledgeable, actual faculty, not graduate assistants.

“I believe students need to be challenged and supported in meeting those challenges. In the sciences, we challenge our students to reach their maximum potential.”
