MAJOR IN HISTORY
|
- 30 semester hours in history, including
HI 569 Historical Method.
- At least 15 hours of upper-level credit are required.
- Electives in political science, economics, sociology, geography,
literature, and philosophy are strongly recommended.

MINOR IN HISTORY
|
|
18 hours, including at least two
upper-level courses.

|
|
TEACHER CERTIFICATION
|

Students who plan to become history teachers
at the secondary level should consult the Teacher Education adviser for history early in their
program.

Secondary teacher certification requires specific major and/or supporting courses not
required of all history majors, such
as international affairs, a non-western history, History of Kansas, American
national and state and local government, geography and economics.

Students must apply for admission to the Teacher Education program at the
end of their sophomore year.
