USM mathematics majors discover the true essence of mathematics, whether it is algebraic systems, analysis, geometric design or statistics, mathematics majors understand how important numbers are to our everyday lives.
First and foremost, mathematics majors at USM develop the problem-solving and critical thinking skills necessary to succeed in the global, ever-changing technological landscape. Small class sizes allow you individualized instruction and an opportunity to explore unique technology. Recent graduates have moved on to professional programs in graduate school, while others have entered rewarding careers as teachers, architects, Information Technology directors, financial analysts and more. To broaden career marketability, mathematics majors are encouraged to double major or an additional minor.
