What do actor/comedian Steve Martin, Harrison Ford, news broadcaster Stone Phillips and NBA basketball coach Phil Jackson have in common? All three were philosophy graduates.
At USM we want you to be a well-rounded graduate. Like the famous people that have majored in philosophy before you, we want you to consider choosing a major, and tacking on philosophy to go with it. Why? It’s simple. Graduates with philosophy backgrounds are not trained for entry level career fields. Instead, philosophy prepares graduates to think critically and independently so that you’re ready for any position. If you’re not quite ready to enter the workforce, graduate school is always an option.
In this program students will gain a deeper insight into contemporary problems and their solutions and develop habits of critical thinking and of action guided by the right principles.
USM’s philosophy minor program, coupled with a USM major, prepares you for a wide variety of career opportunities including:
• College Professor
• Teacher
• Business Administrator
• Law
• Technical Writer
• Graduate school |
