As a theology major at USM, you will learn to reflect critically on your experiences of God. In the Catholic tradition, this reflection is found in biblical, historical, doctrinal, and ethical studies.
This course of study opens you not only to your own religious traditions, but to religious truth as it is expressed in various persons, times, and places.
Our theology program prepares you to live a value-centered life, equipped with the necessary knowledge and skills for careers in many related fields.
Graduates of the theology program have a wide range of career paths open to them, including:
- director of adult religious education
- youth minister
- high school religion teacher
- high school campus minister
- diocesan youth director
- pastoral associate
- ethical consultant
- medical center chaplain
- religion journalist
- marketing and communications
Others go on to graduate study in theology or the pastoral ministry.
