That's
the spirit of the Honors Program
at University of Saint Mary,
and the goal of each student
who enters it. Here we respect
you for what you are, and for
what you can become. When you
have the ability and the ambition,
Honors work tests and proves
your potential. You can begin
as a freshman, or at any point
in your college career, early
enough to meet requirements
and deadlines. But to take
full advantage of the three-tiered
program, you will want to plan
ahead.
Honors-in-Ccourse
or Honors-in-Field is in-depth work related to a given course
or field of study. It is undertaken at the invitation of an instructor or at
the student's own initiative.
Departmental Honors are
awarded to students who consistently
perform well and do Honors
work in their major. The
department faculty evaluates
that work against accepted criteria. All-College Honors carry
you to the top of the academic
mountain. This award says a student
has performed with distinction
throughout a college career,
has undertaken a given number
of Honors projects, and has participated
in at least one Honors Seminar.
The award is presented during
Commencement Week ceremonies. |
