Coach Hinson is entering
his seventh season at USM, and fourth as head coach. The Spires finished the 2007 season 3-6.
In his first season as head coach, Hinson was named KCAC Co-Coach of the Year, leading the Spires to the teams first ever four-game winning streak and a 5-5 record. The 2005 season season featured a defense that posted three shutouts and finished nationally ranked in the top 10 in eight different categories.
In 1993, Hinson
began his coaching career at the University of Northern Texas (UNT) in Denton, Texas as an undergraduate assistant coaching
the defensive line and linebackers. In
1994, he was part of the UNT Southland
Conference Championship and Division-I AA playoff
run.
At UNT, Hinson earned his Bachelor of Science degree in Kinesiology and
Psychology.
From 1997-2001 Hinson was an assistant
at Baker University in Baldwin City,
Kan. where he earned a Master's of Arts degree. While at Baker, Hinson coached tight ends, quarterbacks,
and wide receivers. The
2000 season at Baker ended with the Wildcats
going 9-2 and winning the KWTO Bowl over
Campbellsville Kentucky and finishing No. 15 in the
nation.
A native of Rockwall, Texas, Coach Hinson
lives in Olathe, Kan. with his wife Noelle. He
and Noelle have two children, Jake (14)
and Holly (11). |
