Derek Mazeitis, a native of Leavenworth, Kan., begins his third season as the head coach of the University of Saint Mary soccer program. Mazeitis received his Bachelor of Science degree in Health Science from Truman State University (Kirksville, Mo.) in 1996. While at Truman, Mazeitis earned MIAA All Conference honors as a goalkeeper his junior and senior seasons and was twice selected as the MIAA player of the week. Mazeitis posted a .94 goals against average in 1995, while helping the Bulldogs advance to the NCAA Division II quarterfinals.
Prior to his collegiate career, Mazeitis played locally at Immaculata High School in Leavenworth, Kan., leading the Raiders to a career 62-15-4 record.
Mazeitis comes to USM from Platte County High School in Platte City, Mo., where he started the boys and girls high school programs in 1998 compiling a combined 154-110-18 record over seven years. In his time at Platte County, Mazeitis' teams won a combined four conference titles, four district titles, and reached the state quarterfinals.
Mazeitis enjoys spending his time with his wife Dana and their two sons, Aidan and Cooper. In addition to coaching the USM program ,Coach Mazeitis will also be coaching with the Leavenworth United Soccer Club and Blue Valley Soccer Club.

Stephen Lyons

Originally from Middlesbrough, England, Stephen Lyons played for Darlington FC and a number of semi-pro teams before attending Tennessee Wesleyan College. Lyons graduated from Tennessee Wesleyan College with a Bachelor of Science degree in Business Management. He was named All Conference, All Region, and All American Honorable Mention during four years of collegiate soccer play at TWC. In 2001, Lyons helped Tennessee Wesleyan to its first National Tournament appearance in 25 years. After graduating, Lyons moved to New Zealand and played for Nelson and Canterbury in the NZ National League. Lyons later returned to Middlesbrough and completed the F.A Level II course while working for Middlesbrough FC Youth Academy. At Saint Mary, Lyons will be studying to complete a master’s degree in business administration (MBA).

Harvey Smith

Harvey Smith was born in Trinidad and Tobago and played soccer for St. Clair’s Coaching School. After playing for St. Clair’s, Smith played collegiate soccer for four years at Nyack College where he earned a Bachelor of Science degree in Business Administration. He is currently working as a graduate assistant at the University of Saint Mary men’s and women’s soccer program. While at Saint Mary, Smith will study to complete a master’s degree in business administration (MBA).

Courtney Hamilton

Courtney Hamilton is a native of Trinidad and Tobago and begins his first year as a graduate assistant for the University of Saint Mary soccer program. Hamilton attended Roberts Wesleyan College before transferring his sophomore year to Huntington University where he earned his Bachelor of Science degree in Business Management. Hamilton also played soccer at Huntington from 2002-2005. As a three year starter, he was selected three times to both All-Conference and All-Region team honors, and was twice selected as an All-American Honorable Mention. Before coming to the states, he was a member of the prestigious St. Clair’s Coaching School FC Tobago. While at Saint Mary, Hamilton will study to complete a master’s degree in business administration (MBA).
