Circulating Books
Books are loaned to Saint Mary students for one month; they are loaned to faculty and staff for the semester. Patrons not affiliated with the college but holding Saint Mary library cards, may borrow books for one month and have them renewed once. Renewals may be made in person, by phone, or by email.

Audiovisual Materials
Videocassettes and DVDs are available to faculty and staff for one month; Saint Mary students and off-campus patrons may borrow them for three days. Videos and DVDs are licensed for private use only. Public performance, copying or other use is strictly prohibited by federal law.
Other Materials
Periodicals and reference materials do not circulate.
Patrons wishing to use the vertical file should see the Reference Librarian.
An appointment must be made with the Director in order to tour or use the Special Collections. Items in those collections do not circulate.
Services
- Recall - If a patron needs any item which is already on loan, the library will place a hold on it and notify the original borrower that it has been requested. The item must then be returned to the library by the due date or a fine will be imposed.
- Reserve - Faculty may place their own or library materials on reserve at the circulation desk for the convenience of their students. Time limits are determined by the faculty member and may vary from in library use to several days.

fine of 25 cents per hour per item
up to a maximum of $15.00 per item
is
charged for reserve materials returned
late. This fine must be paid before
other materials may be borrowed.

Interlibrary Loan
Students and faculty needing books or periodicals not available in De Paul Library may request them through interlibrary loan. Off-campus patrons are encouraged to contact their public library or home academic library to arrange for interlibrary loans.
Borrowing Regulations
Those wishing to use the materials and services available in De Paul Library should be prepared to present identification as follows:
- University of Saint Mary students, faculty, and staff - current USM I.D. card.
- Off-campus patrons - library card. A photo I.D. will be required to purchase a library card. USM library cards may be purchased at the circulation desk. The fees are:
- General Public - $25.00/year
- Senior Citizens (55 and older) - $10.00/year
- Other University Students (with VALID Student ID) - free, renewable by semester

Fines
All patrons will be fined for not returning recalled items by the due date. The fine is 25 cents per day up to a maximum of $10.00.
For all other materials not returned by the due date, penalties will be imposed according to these guidelines:
- Saint Mary Students will not receive grades, transcripts, or diplomas.
- Off-campus will be fined 25 cents per day per item up to a maximum of $15.00 per item.
- Three months past the due date, all patrons will be fined the replacement cost of the item plus a $20.00 processing fee . If the patron finds the item and it is returned in good condition, then the patron will be responsible for the processing fee only.
- Library users with overdue materials or outstanding fines will not be permitted further borrowing until they settle their accounts.
