This
web page is designed to give a small
sample of
free resources providing reliable and
valuable information on the web. Some
like the American Memories Project or
the Holocaust Museum contain primary
sources that have been digitized and
made available to the public. Others,
like the French Reference Pages are an
Index or list of resources devoted to
a single subject. Still others are sponsored
by professional organizations such as
the National Music Publishers Association
(NMPA). Government sites provide up-to-date
statistics and technical information.
While those government sites listed here
are U. S., check out other countries
government sites, many are in English.
Most of the websites on this list have
been reviewed and recommended by the
Association of College and Research Libraries
(ACRL).
This is just a starting point. A vast
amount of knowledge lives on the web,
some of it is reliable, some if it is
less reliable. There are many guides
to evaluating websites to help determine
their worth. A very good one by Purdue
University Libraries can be found at
Purdue University
Library- Evaluating Internet Sources.
Finally, included in this list is information
about Copyright Law and online Citation
Guides. Information found on any website
is copyright protected and use of the
information must follow copyright law.
The Citation Guides are a quick and easy
