USM Kicks Off SMART Initiative
University of Saint Mary President Sister Diane Steele has announced the launch of the SMART Initiative, a four-year plan to upgrade facilities, provide additional student scholarships, and create more educational opportunities, especially in the area of health care. The Saint Mary Academics and Residence Life for Tomorrow Initiative seeks $10 million in philanthropic funds to help the university better meet the needs of today’s students. The cornerstone of the plan is a new $4.8 million apartment-style residence hall, scheduled to be completed for the fall 2009 semester.
'60s-Themed SpireFest to Provide Scholarships to Students
From the Beatles landing in New York City to the Apollo astronauts landing on the moon, the decade of the ’60s has been tie-dyed into the American psyche. Take a nostalgic trip back to that eventful era at the 2009 SpireFest, set for Saturday, May 2, at the Hyatt Regency Crown Center in Kansas City. Enjoy the sights and sounds of the ’60s while you help deserving students get scholarships. Tickets are only $100 per person or $1,000 per table. Register or get more information.
Golf Classic Set for Leavenworth Country Club
Scenic Leavenworth Country Club will be the setting for the 2009 University of Saint Mary Golf Classic, scheduled for Monday, Aug. 31, 2009. The event begins at 11 a.m. with a shotgun start.
