Teacher’s Assistant

General Description:
The Ancilla Center for Children, located on the University of Saint Mary Campus, is seeking to fill a full time teacher’s assistant position. A High School diploma is required with child care experience, and/or related Early Childhood education preferred. Must be dependable and a self starter. First Aid/CPR training and a Negative TB test is required. Full time benefits include vacation, medical and other related benefits.
Supervise and insure the safety and well being of the children at all times, be alert for the needs and /or problems of the children as individuals and as a group.
Assist assigned teacher in any way possible, which may include, but is not necessarily limited to:
a. Plan curriculum in detail for assigned classes
b. Implement the daily program for assigned classes
c. Decorate the room with bulletin boards, pictures, children’s artwork, and other
hangings
d. Prepare a snack and sit with the children while they eat
e. Keep classroom, storage areas, and bathroom clean, neat and orderly
Attend local in-service workshops to earn the 10 clock hours per year required by the state.
4. May assume temporary responsibilities of teacher in the absence of the teacher
5. Be familiar with and follow all preschool policies
6. Report to Director any special needs or problems of individual children
7. Report to Director any cases of suspected child abuse or neglect
8. Attend regular staff planning and evaluation meetings

Hourly range: $7.25 to $8.00 depending on experience and education.
