General Description
The University of Saint Mary is engaged in a strategic initiative in Allied Health and seeks a director to establish all aspects of a Doctor in Physical Therapy Program at the University.
The University is sponsored by the Sisters of Charity of Leavenworth, whose history since the mid 1800s has featured ministries in healthcare and education throughout the western United States . Situated in the beautiful rolling hills in the greater Kansas City metropolitan area, the University of Saint Mary is committed to an academic environment that embeds the values and skills of the liberal arts within professional practitioner programs. The Doctor in Physical Therapy represents an area within the Allied Health educational initiative that broadens that ministry as a timely response to growing healthcare needs in America.
The Director of the DPT program will oversee the initial programmatic and curricular development, hire requisite clinical and academic faculty, and lead accreditation efforts in consultation with the Vice President and Dean for Academic
Affairs. The Director is a member of the faculty and reports to the Academic Vice President.
Qualifications
The successful candidate will:
- Hold requisite credentials and experience as a licensed physical therapist;
- Hold a related academic degree at the doctoral level;
- Demonstrate qualities of leadership, organizational, and administrative abilities;
- Demonstrate understanding of the academic environment;
- Be committed to professional excellence;
- Be familiar with the standards and expectations of the Commission on Accreditation in Physical Therapy Education (CAPTE);
- Commit to the mission of the University of Saint Mary.
Specifications
The Director will serve on a full-time 12-month contract with tenure-track faculty appointment, with a preferable starting date no later than August 1, 2007 , or earlier.
