Vice President of Development
Job
Summary: Develops and implements
strategic plans for moves management
and fund raising in the following
categories: capital campaigns, major
gifts, annual funds, planned gifts,
grants and special events. Directs
the fiscal, operational, and personnel
activities of the Institutional Advancement
Department. Supervises and coordinates
the functions of the director of
development and director of endowed
scholarships and major gifts.
Essential Functions:
• Responsible for overall fundraising
effort of the university.
• Responsible for the stewardship of
donors or moves management.
• Advises the president in areas of development,
fund raising, alumni relations.
•
Coordinates the president’s fundraising
efforts as part of the office’s
strategic plan.
• Directs the development and implementation
of short and long range plans for all
area of Institutional Advancement.
• Recommends to the president for approval
and appointment the directors and managers
under the jurisdiction of this office.
• Responsible for recruiting and training
of development staff.
• Responsible for adequate documentation
of gifts, accurate reports and recording
keeping
• Responsible for the development and
oversight of the IA budget.
• Responsible for the goals of the department.
• Cultivates relationships that promote
the interests of the University
• Evaluates all direct reports annually.
Due July 30 of each year.
• Provides quarterly reports on each
area of responsibility to the Board
of Trustees
• Provides a written Ongoing Improvement
Report that assesses the progress of
his/her goals as well as the goals
of each department. The OGI also outlines
the goals and the department goals
for the next year.
• Supervises communication with philanthropic
foundations, corporations, and individuals
as sources of support for university
projects.
• Supervises and coordinates presentations
to such agencies or persons.
• Coordinates with the vice president
of marketing and communications on
all print materials.
• Other job-related duties as assigned.
Education, Experience,
and Skill Required:
Master’s degree or related experience
Minimum 5 years of senior level management
experience
Strong verbal, written, analytical,
and interpersonal skills
Ability to simultaneously manage multiple
projects and responsibilities
Teambuilding skills
Physical/Mental Requirements:
Requires presentation and speaking
before groups. May require long periods
of time at computer terminal. Ability
to travel.
Salary: Commensurate with experience
and qualifications.
