Chairperson for Psychology Department – Academic duties
Vice President of Extended Sites – Administrative duties

Job Summary:
The Director of Graduate Psychology Programs at the University of Saint Mary’s Overland Park Campus is responsible to the Vice President of Extended Sites and Chairperson of the Psychology Department. The Program Director receives a 12-month tenure track faculty appointment and serves as the administrator of the undergraduate and graduate Psychology Programs and as the point of contact between the Psychology Department and constituencies at the Overland Park. The Program Director normally teaches nine hours per calendar year in either the graduate and/or undergraduate programs, participates in committee and governance work (as appropriate), academic advising including course registration, administrative tasks and administration of the off-site programs.

Essential Functions:
• Coordinates scheduling of undergraduate and graduate psychology courses with the Department Chair.
• Conducts assessment and program reviews of undergraduate and graduate programs in consultation with the Department Chair.
• In coordination with the Vice President of Marketing and Department Chair, assists in development of program literature, catalog copy, and web pages.
• Under the direction of the Department Chair and in consultation with the undergraduate program advisor, identifies, hires, orients, and evaluates adjunct faculty for both the undergraduate and graduate programs.
• Recommends changes in the undergraduate and graduate programs to the Department Chair.
• Advises all extended site students regarding their academic programs.
• Mentors graduate students regarding professional issues related to their programs and/or work lives and provides guidance for undergraduate psychology students on a consultative basis.
• Generally keeps a daily presence at the Overland Park Campus and is accessible to students and administrative personnel. Primary office is at the OPC with weekly collaboration with colleagues on the main campus.
• Generally teaches nine hours per calendar year in either the undergraduate and/or graduate programs, to be determined in consultation with Department Chair. Teaching will generally be done in the evenings, and may include teaching at satellite locations and may include some weekends.
• Maintains currency in his/her field. This can be accomplished through a variety of means including, but not limited to, publications in referred journals, presentations at professional meetings, scholarship related to teaching and learning, etc.
• Participates in university governance, committee meeting as appropriate in consultation with Department Chair.
• Other duties as assigned in consultation with the Vice President of Extended Sites and Department Chair.


Qualifications:
Earned Ph.D. in counseling, clinical or related field of psychology, licensure in Kansas and Missouri is preferred, have 3 to 5 years of successful teaching experience, and have administrative experience. Preference given for experience working with adult and/or graduate students.

• Will have the ability to use Excel and learn Jenzabar.
• Will possess a current driver’s license.
• Will be able to teach undergraduate and graduate courses.
• Will possess administrative skills.
• Will have the ability to work with a team.
• Will be able to effectively advise students in a timely manner.

Start Date: July 1, 2008

Salary and Rank: Commensurate with experience and qualifications.
