Berkel Hall, the new "apartment-style" residence hall at the University of Saint Mary on the north end of main campus is complete, and students began moving in Aug. 14.

USM will celebrate the opening of the dorm with a blessing and dedication ceremony at 5 p.m. on the residence hall grounds. Attendees will be able to take a tour of the new dorm.

Berkel Hall was built to accommodate the growing number of students on campus. This year, the university has the highest enrollment of full-time students it has seen since the 1970s.

During move in, USM students like Frankie Walburn and Terrell Harper said they were impressed with the new building and looking forward to taking advantage of the dorm's amenities.

"I like the newer look of the dorm," Walburn said, adding that he put down a deposit on a room as soon as he could. "It has a great new atmosphere."
