Coordinator
of Residence Life
The coordinator assumes overall responsibility for coordination of the housing
environment with all other branches of the college community. Specifically,
the coordinator is responsible for ensuring that the environment is conducive
and complimentary to students' personal, academic, and social development.
The coordinator has responsibility for all housing facilities, housing-related
fiscal resources, student discipline related to housing, and the activities
of the Residence Life staff.
Head Resident
An upper-class student who has had previous experience as a community advisor
staffs each hall. He/she is familiar with student needs and concerns in
a community living environment. The head resident is directly responsible
to the coordinator of Residence Life and works with the community advisors
and community assistants. In addition, the head resident is responsible
for the coordination of check-in, check-out, programming, and Community
Hall Council. The head resident works closely with the CA's to assist you
in any way he/she can to make your total experience here at University
of Saint Mary a successful one. The head resident resides in your hall
and is available most of the time during the day and evening.
Community Advisor
A community advisor staffs every floor in the Residence Hall. The CA's are
carefully selected students who are helpful and knowledgeable about areas
of concern to students. CA's assist residents with both personal and Residence
Hall living problems. The community advisor is an employee and representative
of the university under the supervision of the coordinator of Residence Life.
The CA advises, works with students, and sees that Residence Hall regulations
are followed. The CA may be assigned to a floor or an area in the Residence
Hall; however CA's are responsible for all Residence Hall areas. There
is a Community Advisor on duty from 6 p.m. to 7 a.m. daily and all day
Saturday and Sunday. Duty schedules are posted near the Hall entrances,
or near CA rooms. If any problem arises, please contact your CA or the
CA on duty.

Facilities Staff
The Facilities Department employs full-time maintenance technicians to maintain
College assets, including Residence Halls. Maintenance technicians may
enter residents' rooms to perform routine repairs or improvements during
regular university business hours. Maintenance technicians will not be on
residential floors before 10 a.m. unless there is an emergency.
Routine and Emergency
Maintenance
Maintenance requests or other room concerns (e.g., broken heater, problem with
the lock) should be reported to the residence hall front desk in a timely manner.
For emergency repairs, please contact a member of the hall staff (your community
advisor, the community advisor on duty, or the head resident). If repairs are
not completed to your satisfaction (within one week for regular repairs or
within one day for emergencies) notify your head resident or the Residential
Life Office, ext. 6134. It will be helpful if you report maintenance problems
early and with as much detail as possible. |
