The University of Saint Mary is one of the safest college university you will find. The safety and well being of students, faculty, and staff is of central importance at USM. To ensure the safety and well being of our campus community, the university has:
- An emergency alert system that can be heard across campus
- 24/7 security - Public Safety officers make regular campus patrols
- Security cameras in the dorms
- An average 5-minute response time from Leavenworth/Lansing police and fire departments
- Thorough training on campus safety, security, and emergency procedures at new student orientation
- Emergency Room service next door- Saint John Hospital is conveniently located north of campus
- A full-time campus counselor and campus counseling intern
- An Emergency Management Team and Emergency Management Plan
- Student workshops on sexual assault and domestic violence prevention, self-defense strategies for women, safe dating, the dangers of binge drinking, stress management, Facebook safety, and more
