GSI Conference a Hit

Tuesday April 20, 2010, was an important day for students preparing for the Global Human Rights Conference, as all their hard work throughout the whole academic year was about to become reality.

Seven high schools came to the University of Saint Mary participate in the Global Human Rights Conference. Students had a chance to tweak the scenario in the days leading up to the event, and participate in negotiations toward the end.

Overall, it was a great success thanks to Professor Nata Riegg, who made it possible for this Conference to take place. Dr. Riegg’s Global Context of Conflict class wrote a brand new scenario, and the staff of the University of Saint Mary worked as a team to make it possible.

Human Rights

The day everyone has been waiting for is right around the corner.

USM students have been preparing for the Global Human Rights Conference for area high school students for about a year. It’s a pretty serious effort, and a lot of work goes into it. Nata Riegg and the GSI do a lot of work on it, but much of the work is left up to the students.

It is going to take place in Xavier Hall for the fourth year. Everyone who helped prepare for the conference is anxious for it to start. The conference is all day on Tuesday, April 20. High School students from all over the area will participate. They’ll explore the past and future of Pakistan, and they’ll hold mock negotiations.

Drop by if you can! You’ll be entertained. Go to gsi.stmary.edu for more.
