Today's careers demand technological expertise. That’s why the University of Saint Mary gives one free brand-new laptop to full-time freshmen—that’s yours to keep when you graduate. Transfer students can also buy into the program. It’s just that simple.
Your USM Laptop: Fulltime students on the Leavenworth campus are eligible to participate in the laptop program. All new freshmen are given a laptop which is theirs to keep once they graduate from USM. Transfer students can buy into the program for $200, $400, $800 or $1200 for freshmen, sophomores, juniors and seniors, respectively.
Your USM Email and eSpire: We will give you one username and password for your Saint Mary email and eSpire accounts. Email is the primary means that USM will use to communicate with you. eSpire is USM’s Learning Management System. Both email and eSpire are web-based applications. So, you can get to them from anywhere you can access the Internet. Check it out – once you’ve registered for classes, we’ll send you account information and instructions.
Where you can print: If you are logged into the USM network you will be able to print in the library and Academic Resource Center (ARC) laser printers. You can print up to 500 pages per year and if you need more you can buy an additional 250 pages for $10. If you can make it to the library or Academic Resource Center (ARC) while they are open, you may not need a printer. Note: We do not allow computers with P2P applications on the USM network.
Our Network Access: All of our classrooms, De Paul Library, Saint Joseph Dining Hall and the Student Union have wireless internet access. The wireless network was recently expanded to include the dorm rooms in Maria Hall as well. We currently have a 10 Mbps connection to the Internet.
USM laptops come preloaded with software to tackle homework or to surf the web. And don't worry about glitches—our helpdesk is here to help so you can get up and running in no time.
