ORLANDO, Fla.– The University of Saint Mary cheerleaders, dancers, and mascot competed in their first ever UCA National Championship over the weekend and placed 10th nationally in the Open Coed Game Day division at the Walt Disney World Resort.
The Spires advanced past Friday afternoon's preliminary round in a field of more than 20 squads to earn a spot in finals Friday night, then finished in 10th place. Saint Mary was one of 11 teams in the division to advance to the final round.
Out of the 11 teams that advanced, six of them were NCAA Division I institutions.
The University of Delaware took home first place in the division, while Grand Canyon University and Southeastern Louisiana University placed second and third.
