(Leavenworth, Kan.)—The University of Saint Mary raised more than $20,000 on Feb. 20 as part of its inaugural Day of Giving.
The 24-hour fundraising initiative supported USM's annual scholarship fund, athletic programs, and campus projects. More than 60 percent of donors were alumni, and the donors represented graduates from the 1950s to 2010s.
"Our inaugural Day of Giving was a great success," Vice President for Advancement Matt Astleford said. "We are truly grateful to the generations of Saint Marians who came together to make a tremendous difference in just 24 hours. The impact of Day of Giving will be widely felt, so we sincerely thank all who participated."
Throughout the day, donors participated in giving and social media challenges. The sponsored campaigns celebrated a variety of categories, including those who donated from great distances, the first donors to give from major time zones, and the graduating classes with the greatest participation.
