Pre-Reqs NursingCAS Deadlines

 

Program Prerequisites
  • Courses must be completed with a grade C or better. All official transcripts should be sent to NursingCAS. Course completion deadline prior to the start of the program. 
    • Nutrition
    • Chemistry w/lab
    • Microbiology w/lab
    • Human Anatomy with Lab AND Human Physiology with Lab OR Human Anatomy and Physiology I with Lab AND Human Anatomy and Physiology II with Lab (8-10)
    • Introductory Statistics
    • Introduction to Psychology OR Introduction to Sociology
    • 3 credit hours in additional psychology/human development (can come from the following courses: Human Growth and Development, Lifespan Psychology, Developmental Psychology, Abnormal Psychology, Healthy Psychology, Social Psychology, or Psychology of Childhood and Adolescence)
  • GPA
    • Minimum 3.0 cumulative (on a 4.0 scale)
    • Minimum 3.0 science prerequisite (on a 4.0 scale)
      • Nutrition, Chemistry w/lab, Anatomy and Physiology w/lab, Microbiology
    • Students with a prior bachelor's degree and GPA of 2.8 who meet other listed admissions requirements will be considered for probational admission
    • The Division of Nursing will accept one "C" in nursing support courses. Students who have repeated nursing support courses but were successful, with a grade of "C" or better, will be considered for admission after meeting with the nursing faculty. Multiple repeats on nursing support courses will not be considered for admission. Students must meet all requirements defined in the academic catalog.
    • The Division of Nursing will accept the grade of "C" in general education courses. Students who have repeated general education courses but were successful will be considered f or admission after meeting with the nursing faculty. Students must meet all requirements defined in the academic catalog.
  • Academic Background
    • Bachelor's degree from an accredited university, or highly motivated students with USM General Education core completed (64 college credits with successful completion of the required nursing supporting courses).

  • ATI TEAS Score

     

  • Personal Statement 

  • 2 Letters of Reference

  • Interview with the Nursing Department. Interviews can be held in person or via Zoom.

Apply Through NursingCAS

After your application is "verified" by NursingCAS, your ATI TEAS score is received by the Nursing Department, and your application is reviewed by the Admissions Committee.

About NursingCAS
Nursing’s Centralized Application Service (NursingCAS) is a service of the American Association of Colleges of Nursing. NursingCAS allows applicants to use a single online application and one set of materials to apply to multiple nursing programs at participating schools.

You are required to pay a $45 first-time application fee, and $30 for any subsequent applications.

Deadlines

IMPORTANT: You should submit your application and all required materials to NursingCAS at least 4-6 weeks before the deadline to allow time for your application to be "verified" by NursingCAS.

Until your application is verified and the Division of Nursing (nursing@stmary.edu) has received your ATI TEAS score, we cannot review your application.

  • Deadline: June 1
  • Rolling admissions will be offered to all qualified applicants until the deadline or until all seats are filled.
